Recap: Meeting of Acoustic Minds Benefit Concert

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended the “Meeting of Acoustic Minds” benefit concert on June 24th. It was an unforgettable evening filled with mesmerizing performances and a strong sense of community. Mark Kostrzewa, an original finger-style acoustic guitar player, captivated the audience with his remarkable talent and heartfelt melodies.

Joined by the incredibly talented bass player John Lester and guitarist Mark Lemaire and his wife Cindy, the concert showcased the power of music to inspire and bring people together. We deeply thank these incredible artists for lending their talents to support our cause.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to all our dedicated volunteers who helped organize and run the event seamlessly as well as the Redwood City Oddfellows Lodge 109. Your tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to our mission are what make our events such a success.

Life is Crazy Book Launch

We are thrilled to announce the publication of a book co-authored by Jamie Blaine and our very own Vicky Lanzone!

Life is Crazy and We’re All Going to Die: A Book about Hope in Strange Places” is a bold and poignant exploration of the human condition in the face of uncertainty.

Conversational, controversial, raw, real, funny, and ultimately redemptive, the book offers a view beyond social justice, and past denominations, deeper than the platforms, political causes, or lines that divide us. Several of the stories recounted occurred during Street Life Ministries events and involved several of our homeless folks.

Attend our virtual launch event on July 25th. Please RSVP on Facebook.

Jonny’s New Car

Thanks to the incredible generosity of an anonymous donor, we recently received a remarkable donation of $3,000. This amazing gift was specifically intended to help one of our clients obtain a car, and after careful consideration, we decided that Jonny, who you can see in the picture, would be the perfect recipient. Jonny volunteers with us multiple times a week as a driver and evening kitchen coordinator.

We are overjoyed to inform you that Jonny is doing exceptionally well. He recently found housing and is now determined to pursue his dream of becoming a firefighter by going back to school. Through our connections in San Mateo, we managed to secure a 2003 Lexus RS 300 for the donation amount – $3,000. When we surprised Jonny with this news, he was overcome with tears of joy. He had no idea that we were planning this incredible act of kindness just for him.

This heartwarming story reminds us that there are truly wonderful people out there who genuinely care about the success and happiness of others. Sometimes, unexpected blessings like this help individuals like Jonny see that the world is filled with good-hearted individuals.

We are immensely grateful to our anonymous donor for making this extraordinary gift possible and giving Jonny the means to pursue his dreams with renewed hope and enthusiasm.

Let’s continue to celebrate these moments of compassion and share the positive impact we can create together. Congratulations, Jonny, on your newfound journey, and thank you all for being part of our compassionate community.
