Many of you are familiar with our Mobile Clothing Closet, a box truck brimming with generously donated items for distribution to those in need. Recently, one of our dedicated partners, Johnathan, connected with Debbie, who manages the Clothing Closet. Upon learning about a homeless camp in South City lacking access to showers and support services, Debbie took the Mobile Clothing Closet directly to them. She provided essential items such as clothing, blankets, hygiene kits, and more to around 14 individuals. We hope these supplies offer comfort and assistance to those facing hardship, and that the camp receives some support.

Kev’s Korner

Greetings, my peoples, and welcome to April!!!
Hey, at least for me, it’s GOTTA be better than the last 3 months. By my figuring, we’ve already made it past Easter, and the Summer should be right in front of us.

So, had to testify against the guy with the boxcutter, finally.

His lawyer’s been continuing the case since the end of January. His “go-to” was telling me since I’m a big guy, I must have “intimidated” his client. I see big dudes everyday, and honestly, I don’t feel the slightest bit of intimidation. Guess it takes a victim mentality to be intimidated. All I know is that, regardless of how “intimidated” a person may get by laying eyes on me, it certainly doesn’t allow said intimidated person to try and cut me in half with a boxcutter. Not that this guy would have even succeeded, but it sure doesn’t give him the option to try. I really get tired of that whole “you’re intimidating” mindset. It’s a total cop out. If you haven’t got the guts to introduce yourself because of how someone looks, then you’ve got no right to offer commentary on them – or their lives. Seriously, if someone is so weak as to be scared of me without bothering to know me, then I feel like their opinion of me shouldn’t matter…

Sorry, this subject kinda makes me angry. It’s so closed minded as to be laughable. Being judged by someone who’s understanding of combat disappeared after high school is ridiculous. They have no idea what they’re talking about, yet, since this is 2024, it really doesn’t surprise me very much. People with no clue telling other people how to live… Sound familiar? Overall, I find it weak and wanting. The fact is, although I’m certainly not everyone’s cup of tea, I’m not a bad guy at all. I enforce the rules at Street Life. That’s the job I was hired for. I make no apologies for doing my job. If how I do my job bothers someone that doesn’t even bother coming to Street Life, exactly how much should I care? Seems to me if they aren’t there, they lose their right to an opinion of any kind.

Anyways, I guess my rant is over. Sometimes I just don’t get it…

March numbers have shown us a large influx of new folks coming in to Street Life for God, food, and services. There’s a ton of new faces showing up at The Lot. They’re even showing up for the sermon. To us, that’s a pretty cool thing. Although there’s still a lot of folks that wait until after the Service to come get food, it’s starting to get more crowded under that tent during sermon time. To me, that’s a total win…

Lord, I just want to ask You for strength today. Strength to deal with the opinions of folks that really don’t have the right to an opinion – especially those folks that haven’t got a clue what it’s really like on the daily. Help me to better understand that what they think of me shouldn’t really affect me. As always, please keep us in Your Gaze and hold us close. We need you.

See you on the streets,

Wishing you a Bountiful Spring

As we conclude this newsletter, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our readers for their unwavering generosity and support. With optimism and prayers for the well-being of all, we eagerly anticipate the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in the coming year. Stay well, dear friends.
